In The History of Bacon Experience, we’ll walk through some of it's history and learn about how bacon was made. In this class, you’ll learn about: 

  • The process of dry-curing and smoking bacon 
  • The role salt plays in food preservation and local salt sources 
  • Sample bacon recipes from 1500 BC and 19th century Virginia 
  • How skilled enslaved cooks prepared bacon in our foodway 

Plus, each participant can enjoy a complementary glass of Gauthier Vineyard's red or white wines.
