Description

Supports York County’s business recruitment, expansion, and retention efforts through project management, research, marketing, and outreach. 

Plays a key role in responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), coordinating site visits, managing real estate and demographic databases, conducting trend research, and supporting marketing and lead generation efforts. 

Also provides coordination and oversight for Economic Development programs, supervises staff, and serves as a County liaison at regional and state events to promote economic growth.

Responds to Requests for Information (RFIs) from site selection consultants, real estate professionals, businesses, and economic development partners by compiling relevant data, community narratives, and site details in a timely, professional manner.

Coordinates and hosts site visits for business prospects, acting as a facilitator and lead point of contact during the tour process. 

Manages commercial real estate and demographic databases such as CoStar, Virginia Scan, and internal property listings. Regularly updates and maintains accurate data on available sites and buildings. 

Maintains records in CRM tools, tracking projects, prospects, follow-ups, and leads to ensure continuity of service and accurate reporting. 

Conducts research and monitors economic trends in workforce, industry, and real estate to support strategic planning, business outreach, and marketing.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university, preferably supplemented by a master’s degree in economics, public administration, business, planning, or a related field. A minimum of five years of experience in economic development or a closely related field is preferred.

Possession of a valid driver’s license by the Commonwealth of Virginia. 

Supplemental Information

Occasional evening or weekend work and regional travel may be required.

Physical Demands

Must be physically able to operate common office equipment such as personal computers, typewriters, copiers, calculators, etc. Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle. Much of the work is sedentary in nature and involves sitting at a desk or in front of a computer, while doing administrative work. When retrieving supplies and monitoring programs, setting up at facilities for events, work involves bending, stooping, climbing of stairs, and climbing in and out of a van and/or a truck while loading and unloading materials and equipment, and walking. There is occasional lifting of boxes, and tables and chairs, usually nothing weighing more than 75 pounds.
