The Rochambeau Roadside Inn is a 22-room boutique motel located at the gateway to historic Colonial Williamsburg. Thoughtfully restored with a nod to its roadside roots, Rochambeau blends modern comfort with nostalgic charm—creating a stay that feels both easygoing and memorable.
Independently owned and operated by a local team, we’ve built Rochambeau to be more than just a place to sleep—it’s a basecamp for exploring Williamsburg and the Historic Triangle, with a focus on thoughtful details, warm service, and a bit of personality along the way.
We’re looking for a personable, reliable Guest Experience Host to join our team in a part-time role.
This position supports the General Manager in the day-to-day operations of the Inn, with a strong focus on guest experience. You’ll be the face of Rochambeau during your shifts—helping guests feel welcome, keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes, and jumping in wherever needed to maintain our standards.
The role is hands-on and varied, combining guest interaction, light operational tasks, and on-the-ground problem solving. We’re a small team, so flexibility, attention to detail, and a positive, service-first mindset go a long way.
In addition, but not limited to, the Guest Experience Host will:
- Responsibilities include managing the reception area during business hours (including select weekend shifts), coordinating with vendors, ensuring quality control, and engaging with guests
- Communicate with guests via our messaging platforms in a timely, friendly, and on-brand manner, providing support before, during, and after their stay.
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a professional, friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Oversee multiple projects, people, and requests at once including greeting and registering guests, inspecting the grounds and rooms, answering guest questions, and handling guest complaints.
- Assist the General Manager in inventory, including food & beverage, supplies and linens.
- Solicit guest feedback regarding services and facilities and take corrective action to solve deficiencies.
- Records management, including incident reports, inventory and cost control as needed
- Maintain knowledge of local area, current events, and attractions to help inform and guide guest inquiries and activities
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of operational systems, including but not limited to Cloudbeds (our hotel management software), to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and a seamless guest experience.
Guest Experience Host Skills:
- Exceptional Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to interact effectively with guests, collaborate with team members, and provide clear feedback.
- Guest-Centric Service: Proven ability to place guest satisfaction at the center of decisions, resolving complaints and enhancing their overall experience.
- Comfort with Technology: Confident using computers, web-based tools, and hospitality systems (like Cloudbeds). Ability to quickly learn new platforms and troubleshoot basic issues is essential.
- Problem-Solving Expertise: Quick thinking and resourcefulness to address guest issues, resolve conflicts, and implement creative solutions.
- Leadership and Teamwork: Ability to inspire a positive workplace culture and contribute to the success of the Inn through teamwork and initiative.
- Adaptability: Skill in adjusting to evolving guest needs, industry trends, and business dynamics with a proactive approach.
- Emotional Intelligence: High level of empathy and interpersonal awareness to navigate the emotions of both guests and team members effectively.
Job Type: Part-time, non-exempt
Pay: Starting at $18 per hour, with flexibility based on experience
Hours: Typically ranging from 8 to 16 hours per week, focused on Fridays through Sundays. Most weeks involve 2–3 shifts, though the exact number may vary based on your availability and our business needs. There may also be occasional opportunities to pick up additional hours, depending on the candidate and schedule.
