Part-Time Seasonal Middle School Coach

Williamsburg Boat Club is seeking a positive, energetic, and dependable Part-Time Middle School Coach to help lead and grow our middle school rowing program. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young athletes, creating a fun and supportive team environment, and helping kids build confidence, teamwork, and athletic skills.

Williamsburg Boat Club is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) community rowing organization dedicated to providing opportunities for athletes of all ages and experience levels to row, grow, and lead. Established in 2004, WBC is committed to developing confident athletes, fostering teamwork and sportsmanship, and making the sport of rowing accessible within the Williamsburg community.

Previous rowing experience is not required. Experience working with 10–13 year old athletes in a school, camp, or sports setting is preferred.

Responsibilities include:

* Assist in coaching middle school rowing practices in a safe, engaging, and age-appropriate manner

* Help introduce athletes to the fundamentals of rowing, teamwork, and fitness

* Foster a positive, encouraging, and inclusive team culture

* Support athlete supervision and safety on and around the water

* Assist with equipment setup, cleanup, and general boathouse organization

* Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and coaching staff

* Help represent the club in a professional and positive manner

Schedule:

* 2–3 weekday practices per week

* Fall and Spring Seasons: approximately 8–9 weeks each

* Winter Program: approximately 12–13 weeks

* Summer Program: approximately 7–8 weeks

Qualifications:

* Experience working with middle school aged children in an athletic, educational, or camp environment

* Strong communication and leadership skills

* Reliable, organized, and positive attitude

* Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

* CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)

* Rowing experience is a plus, but not required
