WILLIAMSBURG LANDING ANNOUNCES JAN BIGELOW AS NEW PRESIDENT & CEO
The Board of Directors of Williamsburg Landing has named Jan Bigelow as the organization’s new President & Chief Executive Officer, effective in January 2025. Jan will succeed current President & CEO Greg Storer, who will be retiring at the end of the year after outstanding CEO leadership of the organization since 2016. Her selection comes after an extensive nationwide search involving well over 100 applicants.
Jan is an outstanding leader in the senior living industry, with over 30 years of experience. She brings tremendous strengths in strategic planning, governance, and board relations, team member retention and development, and community engagement. Jan most recently served as the Chief Executive Officer of Kendal at Lexington, another highly regarded not-for-profit Life Plan Community located in Rockbridge County, VA. Under her guidance, the organization experienced considerable financial growth and completed an extensive campus construction project.
As a testament to her outstanding leadership, Jan’s campus was awarded the LeadingAge VA 2023 Workplace Excellence Award. Earlier career appointments include Executive Director roles with nationally regarded senior living systems in Florida and Pennsylvania and prior positions in marketing and finance. Jan holds a Master of Science in Public Administration with a concentration in Health Care Administration.
Jeanne Zeidler, Chair of Williamsburg Landing’s Board of Directors, said “In Jan Bigelow we have found the ideal candidate who brings a wealth of experience in leading communities like Williamsburg Landing, in healthcare, in managing construction projects, in developing innovative programs and in outreach to the surrounding area. We are delighted that she will be building on the Landing’s strengths and leading us forward in all of those areas.” Jan Bigelow expressed her eagerness to get started, noting “I am excited about this opportunity and I look forward to meet the residents and staff and to get fully engaged in the vibrant Williamsburg community.”
Zeidler looks forward to a smooth transition as Greg Storer retires at the end of December. “On behalf of the Board,” she noted, “I want to thank Greg for his extraordinary leadership. He has strengthened our programs, led us in exciting new directions, and positioned the Landing for even greater success.”
Williamsburg Landing, located on 153 wooded acres in beautiful and historic Williamsburg, Virginia is the area’s premier not-for-profit, single-site, CARF-accredited Life Plan Community. The community offers independent and assisted living, separate and secured memory support services, adult day and rehabilitative services, as well as skilled nursing and long-term care. The organization employs 400 staff members and is home to approximately 600 residents. In 2020, Williamsburg Landing was recognized as a Certified Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Williamsburg Landing was recognized as a Certified Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. In 2022, the community became the first retirement community in Virginia to become a designated accredited Arboretum. Most recently, the organization opened the first Namaste unit in the state of Virginia, a 12-bed unit dedicated to a unique advanced Memory Support program for individuals living with the final stages of dementia.
